Course Format: Group - (60 minutes)
The M.int Leaves course is designed to be taken before or alongside instrumental lessons to form an unrivalled, balanced, and comprehensive music education unique to M.int Academy.
In the first 30 minutes, students will explore musicianship fundamentals inspired by the Kodály Method of musical education, a world-renowned approach that specialises in child-friendly game-based learning. Leaves will reinforce their understanding of musical concepts and terminologies through playground songs, rhymes and rhythmic movements. Building on the skills learned at the Sprouts level, students will learn to sing in pitch – both individually and in a group – while developing a strong conscious grasp of pitch, rhythm and beat.
In the second half of the class, students will explore how music evolved throughout the Baroque to the Romantic period, whilst encountering seminal works, ranging from Bach's iconic Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 to Verdi's operatic masterpiece, La Traviata. By engaging with these celebrated repertoires, students will not only solidify their grasp of fundamental music theory concepts but also broaden their musical horizons through an examination of diverse genres, including the concerto, ballet, musical theatre, jazz, and film scores.
